In addition to providing a forum for the exchange of leading research and technology developments, Healthy Buildings 2009 is proud to present an exciting social program showcasing the food, arts, and entertainment of the historic city of Syracuse.

Opening Ceremony, 1600-1730 with Reception to Follow
Music: Joanne Shenandoah
A GRAMMY Award and 11-time Native American Music award winning artist; and Wolf Clan member of the Iroquois Confederacy, Joanne Shenandoah has fulfilled the promise of her Native American name, Tekaliwah-kwa, (She Sings).
"She's become one of the most acclaimed Native American recording artists of her time," according to the Associated Press.
Since emerging as an artist in 1990, she has performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, the White House, Kennedy Center, Earth Day on the Mall, Woodstock '94, the Parliament of the Worlds Religions in South Africa, the famous Sagrada Familia in Barcelona Spain, Hwa Eom Temple in S. Korea and thousands of locations in the US.

Welcome Party at the Everson Plaza, 1700-2000
Join Mayor Matthew Driscoll and County Executive Joanie Mahoney as they welcome attendees of Healthy Buildings 2009 with a fun-filled reception on Everson Plaza in downtown Syracuse. Dinosaur Bar-B-Q and Los Blancos will anchor the scene with great food and music, as attendees mingle and ‘go global’ by networking with Healthy Buildings 2009 participants from across the globe.

“Technically Speaking” Student Networking Event, 1200-1300
Local and regional University students and Healthy Building student participants will join together for a relaxed hour of networking in the courtyard of the Syracuse Technology Garden.
B2B Networking Reception, 1700-1900
Open networking reception for HB2009 attendees, local and regional businesses to connect after the day’s OppEx offerings. Conference attendees will have drink vouchers, cash bar for non-registered attendees.

A renowned string quartet comprised of member of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra.
Wednesday, Sept. 16
Conference Dinner, 1900-2400
Relax and catch up with your colleagues and friends at the Conference Dinner, held at the Convention Center at Oncenter in downtown Syracuse, NY. This will be a wonderful opportunity to meet again with new acquaintances, as well as enjoy a delicious, diversified cuisine; various dance performances ranging from salsa to swing; and a live band to dance the night away.
Dance: Salsa Son Timba with La Familia de la Salsa Dancers
This Latin dynamo plays and dances to the hippest new sounds of Havana!
Dance: Emerald City Six with the Steve Ryan Dancers
An all-star sextet of the finest Dixieland and traditional swing musicians in the region. Steve Ryan, lead instructor of the Syracuse Swing Dance Society, teaches dance at Syracuse University.
